Want to get rich? Here’s how you can.
When I mention the word “rich” what thoughts do you get? Obviously, all materialistic possessions and elements, commodities, status, fame, regarding money. Is this truly what life is all about? Well, not most part of it. People assume richness is all about having respect and recognition in the world. What happens when you leave the world? After dying, does your money or status matter? Nobody gives a shit about you. Only for a limited period of time you get to experience that luxury. Having money and power for your own self is similar to having a rented costume for an annual function. And after that it all vanishes like it never existed in the first place. Isn’t it so ironic, Right? If this is not the actual meaning behind the word rich, then what it is?
he Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Wealth is not having many possessions. True wealth is the richness of the soul.
Prophet’s( pbuh) advice to live a Rich & happy life-
Don’t Compare
The Prophet (pbuh) said: “look at those below you and do not look at those above you, for it is the best way not to belittle the favours of Allah.”
Comparison often leads to dissatisfaction and ungratefulness. Instead of constantly seeking what others have, we should appreciate the blessings Allah has already given us. The more we focus on gratitude, the more content and happy we become.Another hadith reinforces this:
“Riches are not from an abundance of worldly goods, but from a contented mind.” (Bukhari, Muslim)
This means true wealth is not in material possessions but in being satisfied with what Allah has provided.
Remember Allah Often
Allah says in the Qur’an:
“Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.” (Qur’an 13:28)
The Prophet (PBUH) emphasized the importance of dhikr (remembrance of Allah) for spiritual peace. He said:
“The example of the one who remembers his Lord and the one who does not is like that of the living and the dead.” (Bukhari, Muslim)
This hadith highlights that without remembering Allah, the heart feels empty and lifeless. Engaging in dhikr, reciting Qur’an, and making dua bring peace to the heart and strengthen our connection with Allah.
Tawakkul: Trust in Allah
The Prophet (PBUH) said:
“If you relied upon Allah with the reliance He is due, then He would provide for you just as He provides for the birds. They go out in the morning with empty stomachs and return full.” (Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah)
Trusting in Allah does not mean avoiding effort; it means doing our best while believing that Allah will take care of our needs. This trust removes anxiety and brings peace of mind, knowing that our affairs are in the hands of the Most Merciful, Our Creator.
Be Grateful
Allah promises:
“If you are thankful, I will increase you [in blessings].” (Qur’an 14:7)
Gratitude is a key component of happiness. The Prophet (PBUH) said:”The one who does not thank people has not thanked Allah.” (Abu Dawood, Tirmidhi)This teaches us to appreciate both Allah’s blessings and the kindness of others. A grateful heart finds joy even in small things, leading to a happier and more fulfilling life.
5. Take Care of Your Physical Health
The Prophet (PBUH) emphasized the importance of taking care of one’s body. He said:
“Your body has a right over you.” (Bukhari)
This means maintaining a healthy lifestyle through proper nutrition, exercise, and rest. The Prophet (PBUH) himself encouraged moderation in eating, stating:
“The son of Adam does not fill any vessel worse than his stomach. It is sufficient for the son of Adam to eat a few morsels to keep him going. If he must do so, then let him fill one-third with food, one-third with drink, and one-third with air.” (Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah)
By taking care of our bodies, we improve our physical and mental well-being, allowing us to lead a more productive and happy life.
Focus Less on Materialistic Things
The Prophet (PBUH) said:”Wealth is not having many possessions; rather, true wealth is the richness of the soul.” (Bukhari, Muslim)People often believe that acquiring more wealth and possessions will bring happiness, but in reality, materialism only increases greed and dissatisfaction. The Prophet (PBUH) also warned:
“If a son of Adam had a valley full of gold, he would desire two valleys. Nothing fills his mouth except dust, yet Allah will accept the repentance of the one who repents.” (Bukhari, Muslim)
This hadith reminds us that human desire for wealth is endless. Instead of chasing material gain, true happiness comes from being content with what we have and focusing on spiritual and moral values.
Follow Good Character and Principles
The Prophet (PBUH) said:
“Nothing is heavier on the scale of deeds than good character.” (Tirmidhi)
Good character, kindness, and honesty contribute to a happy and peaceful life. The Prophet (PBUH) was known as Al-Amin (The Trustworthy) and As-Sadiq (The Truthful), setting an example for us to follow. He also said:
“The most beloved of people to Allah is the one who brings the most benefit to others.” (Tabarani)
Happiness is not only about self-fulfillment but also about bringing joy to others. When we practice kindness, patience, and generosity, we not only improve our relationships but also find inner peace and satisfaction.
True Richness
True happiness in Islam is not about chasing temporary pleasures but about finding peace, gratitude, and purpose through faith. By following the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), we can lead a life filled with contentment, tranquility, and joy.May Allah grant us all a life of happiness, righteousness, and closeness to Him. Ameen
